You are not addicted to the substance. You are addicted to what it does.
Every addiction is solving a problem. MTP™ solves the problem directly — so the substance is no longer needed.
Addiction is not a moral failure. It is a solution. The substance or behaviour was doing something — relieving pain, quieting anxiety, providing comfort, creating belonging. The problem is not the solution. The problem is what it is solving. MTP™ addresses the underlying problem directly.
Using a substance or behaviour to manage an emotional state
Increasing tolerance — needing more to get the same effect
Failed attempts to stop that increase shame
Using despite consequences you can clearly see
Craving that overrides intention
Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation is among the most evidence-backed applications in clinical hypnosis. For broader addiction, the trance component accesses the subconscious need structure that the addiction serves. Meditation builds the internal resource — the capacity for stillness, comfort, and equanimity — that the addiction was providing externally. Psychotherapy addresses the original wound.
Peer-reviewed evidence supporting MTP-aligned interventions for Addiction & Habits.
"Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation showed significantly higher abstinence rates than willpower alone at 6-month and 12-month follow-up across multiple meta-analyses."
Green & Lynn, International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis"Mindfulness-based relapse prevention significantly reduced substance use and craving compared to standard relapse prevention in an RCT."
Bowen et al., JAMA PsychiatryMTP™ is a complementary intervention. It does not replace medical assessment or treatment. Dr. Maruti Sharma works collaboratively with medical professionals where appropriate.
Good fit
Smoking cessation
Alcohol dependency with a psychological primary driver
Compulsive behaviours — gambling, eating, digital
Addiction alongside anxiety, depression, or trauma
Genuine readiness to address what the addiction was solving
Not the right fit
Active substance dependency requiring medical detox first — MTP™ is adjunct to, not replacement for, medical detoxification
Addiction in acute crisis requiring immediate medical management
Can hypnotherapy make me stop smoking in one session? +
Some clients do achieve cessation in a single intensive session. More commonly, 2–4 sessions produce lasting cessation. The outcome depends on the depth of the conditioning and whether smoking is purely habitual or is serving a deeper emotional function.
Is this effective for alcohol dependency? +
MTP™ is effective for psychologically-driven alcohol use. If there is physical dependency, medical detox should precede MTP™ work. Following detox, MTP™ addresses the psychological driver that made alcohol necessary.
The habit is not the problem. Find the problem and the habit dissolves.
Every engagement begins with a conversation. No commitment. No pressure. Just an honest exchange to understand whether this is right for you.
